Mobility Awards joins the first Philippine Urban Forum

QUEZON CITY, October 2, 2023 – The Mobility Awards will be showcasing the importance of fostering bikeable and walkable cities as sustainable urban mobility solutions in the first Philippine Urban Forum (PhUF), the localized version of the World Urban Forum, the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization.

Organized by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and UN Habitat Philippines, PhUF 2023 provides a venue for knowledge exchanges, dialogues, and coordination among key stakeholders of sustainable urban development in the country.

The two-day conference will feature an urban exhibit and gallery, where the Mobility Awards will stage a booth under the theme “Walkable Cities: Capturing the youth dividend, a more spatially balanced and interconnected development, and safeguards for the vulnerable and disadvantaged.”

“We are delighted to be part of this event that promotes a whole-of-nation approach to achieving the Philippine New Urban Agenda (PNUA). We invite everyone to visit our booth and actively participate in the immersive learning experiences we have to offer. Participants will get the chance to score limited edition Mobility Awards merchandise. We will also be highlighting best practices on sustainable urban mobility drawn from our past winners,” said Mobility Awards National Coordinator Arielle Celine Tabinga.

PhUF 2023 will also feature a training session on sustainable urban governance, focusing on building climate-resilient and bankable urban projects, on October 6, 9:00AM to 12:00PM. The training aims to discuss sustainable urban governance for climate resilience, share country ratings on institutional conditions for inclusive urban development, enhance knowledge on climate-resilient and financially viable urban projects, and foster learning exchanges among stakeholders at different levels. The event is co-organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Urban Act Project, United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG-ASPAC), and Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA).

PhUF 2023, themed “Transforming our Cities and Building Resilient Communities,” will be held on October 5-6, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City. For more information, visit https://unhabitat.org.ph/phuf2023/
